I founded CreativeSmith, Inc. in 2001 as a freelance graphic design concern with an emphasis on logo design and corporate identity. CreativeSmith, Inc. provided design services to firms in the Detroit metropolitan area, and serviced clients as varied as Franco Public Relations Group, Gayle’s Chocolates, Alternative Resources and Training, Triangle Foundation, The Farmington Players and Forgotten Harvest.
In 2015, Michael transitioned CreativeSmith’s mandate to writing spec screenplays for the motion picture industry, and providing outstanding writing services to producers and actors. Our focus is writing realistic LGBT characters that exist in today’s world. They are hockey players, race car drivers, bullies, dancers, architects — you name it and an LGBT person exists in that role. They live rich complicated lives that are not defined by what they are — by some label — but rather what they say, do, create and destroy. Michael aims to write profound stories in both the drama and thriller genres — although he is willing to dive into other genres as your needs require.
“The film industry is a business that thrives on collaboration, a skill I honed in countless board rooms as a logo designer,” Michael says. “I also believe that craftsmanship and competency are two things that fall through the cracks in today’s get-it-done-yesterday world. My work will be complete and punctual — and worth the price you pay for it. After all, a late project — poorly executed — will lose you money and that’s not the business that I’m in.”
Michael has one writing credit and one co-producing credit. He has placed in several contest (see below) and is currently marketing a single-location feature-length thriller and rewriting a two-act stage play.
